Steve's Photo Steve's Bio
Hello Club Members,
My name is Steve Wheelock and I am happy to announce I have joined the Fitness Team at the Pineville Club. I moved to Flowers Plantation with my wife and two children from Western Massachusetts. I bring over 20 years of experience in Health and Fitness, most recently at the Canyon Ranch Health Resort in Lenox, MA. I hold a B.S. in Physical Education as well as Certifications through the American College of Sports Medicine and the National Academy of Sports Medicine. My specialties are in Fitness Management, Group Teaching, and Personal Training for all levels, Senior Fitness, as well as Home/Business Gym design. I am happy to be here! I started in September and have been working hard to meet the needs and requests of the members. Starting in October I will be developing and instructing some new Group Fitness Classes. If you haven’t picked up this month’s schedule, please do so! From interval training, to a circuit training class, core training using physioballs, and stretch, there is something for everyone! I am also available for Personal Trainings sessions if you would prefer to meet one on one. If you are new to exercise, let me help you navigate the gym and learn how to use the equipment properly. Maybe you’ve been working out forever, but could use a new program to prevent a plateau or to challenge yourself both physically and mentally. I am here to motivate and help you on your journey! Please stop in and see me the next time you’re at the Club. I love what I do, and look forward to bringing you the programming and service that you deserve at the Pineville Club! Stay Healthy, Steve Wheelock

Your program will consist of an initial assessment utilizing realistic 30-day short-term and 90-day long-term goals, nutritional support and a personalized exercise plan. Taking advantage of our 1-on-1 personal training will not only provide you with an exercise program, but will also provide you with a lasting relationship of support and encouragement between you and your trainer.

     Group

Providing fun results in a supportive team atmosphere, our group personal training program offers 30-minute sessions with a Degreed Personal Trainer. Groups consist of 2 to 4 people, a perfect number for friends or family. Even though being on the same fitness level as the other members of your group is beneficial, your personal trainer will tailor the program to accommodate different fitness levels if necessary. The program will consist of an initial assessment and the establishment of short-term 30-day and long-term 90-day goals for all group members and a personalized exercise plan to make sure everyone reaches his/her goals!

SPORTS SPECIFIC TRAINING

The goal of any sports specific training program is to improve your performance in the area that is needed. In some instances, it might be speed, in others, it might be endurance. Improved quickness is often a goal, as is improved power and explosiveness. What is not usually as important, even though it is often desired, is improved strength. Usually, the need is in explosiveness, but the misguided focus is on strength. And there is a big difference. Our program is built on two main principals. The first is the principal of specificity of training. We believe in training specifically for improvement in a given area as opposed to general training with the goal of overall improvement in general fitness levels of athletes. The second is quality training. We believe in short, intense workouts with maximum effort as opposed to quantity training where hours are spent training at low intensity levels. Usually time is a precious commodity for young athletes as they have to split their time between school, sports specific training, practice and what little social life they have. The quicker they can get their training done, the better, as long as performance does not suffer.
